12 May (Sun) 2002 Pina Bausch and Meret Becker |
Today, I went to the SAITAMA ARTS THEATER to see "Die sieben Todsunden/Furchtet Euch nicht" (Tanztheater Wuppertal ). SAITAMA ARTS THEATER was far from Tokyo! But the theater had good atmosphere. It was dimly-lighted theater. And it filled with the dried air. I feel a great interest in Pina Bausch since I saw her face in the film of Federico Fellini's "E La Nave Va". But I have never seen her production before. The dance pleased me with its persistent repetition. A group of dancers did repetitious dance and trifled with solo dancer. Maybe it was the symbol of the relation between the general public and the individual.(I make a trite remark, don't I ? ) Which side did Pina stand? I suppose she enjoyed her choreography of bullying. I will go to another show of Tanztheater Wuppertal . I often listen to the music by Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht. For me, the best singer is Ute Lemper. She has both the virgin's high key and the vamp's low key. Today, I listened to the voice of Meret Becker. I love her vigorous vocal. After the show, I bought her CD named "NACHTMAHR" at TOWER RECORDS, SHIBUYA.
